Efficient Verification for GMP-Compliant Conductivity Measurement in the Pharmaceutical Sector

The SE605H optionally features a CondCheck function that enables a conductivity sensor check complete with the sensor’s own electronics without interrupting the measuring chain. Verifying the sensor according to USP standard <645> is key to GMP-compliant pharmaceutical production.

Ensuring the Quality of Ultrapure Water

The quality of water for injection (WFI) or ultrapure water (UPW) must be ensured when used in pharmaceutical applications. This is made possible by conductivity measurements, which must comply with the USP standard <645>. This standard stipulates a multi-stage test procedure for the measuring loop, ensuring the water’s quality and purity. It is an essential part of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) when manufacturing ultrapure water for the production of active pharmaceutical ingredients and finished medication. Certified and traceable resistance is used to verify the SE605H conductivity sensor. This resistance is connected via a plug to the sensor, which does not need to be removed during the test. The sockets of the sensor are protected by a coupling nut.

CIP/SIP-Capable Hygienic Design

The SE605H is a 2-electrode conductivity sensor featuring a hygienic design made of stainless steel and a broad measuring range for ultrapure water of up to 1000 µS/cm. An integrated temperature sensor delivers rapid temperature compensation. Either an Ingold process connection in two lengths or a 1.5” or 2” clamp are available process-side. All materials used are FDA- and USP VI-certified. The surface is electropolished and has a roughness of max. 0.4 or 0.8 µm, depending on the type. As required by the pharmaceutical industry, the sensor is CIP/SIP capable.
