New 30 mV Shunt Resistors for Knick Transducers

In many cases, shunt resistors that generate a shunt voltage of 60 mV at maximum measuring current are used to measure high currents in industrial applications. Together with the high-voltage transducers of the P41000, P51000, P29000, P27000, and BL591 series, they ensure highly accurate current measurement with long-term stability.

Knick is expanding the accessory range for its high-voltage transducers with immediate effect by adding shunt resistors with a 30 mV voltage drop

Effective immediately, Knick also supplies shunt resistors that enable extremely low-loss measurement with a voltage drop of only 30 mV. In conjunction with the transducers from Knick, the new shunt versions for measuring currents between 1 A and 20 kA offer particularly economical solutions. By halving the heat loss compared to 60 mV shunt resistors, they significantly reduce both the time required for enclosure cooling and the thermal load on adjacent components. And thanks to their typically more compact dimensions, 30 mV shunt resistors take up less room in the enclosure. Just like the 60 mV shunt resistors from Knick, the new 30 mV variants are available in the 0.5 and 0.2 accuracy classes. They feature meticulous workmanship, Manganin resistor rods, and a low temperature coefficient. The standard range comprises shunt resistors for currents from 1 A to 8,000 A.

For current measurements up to 20,000 A

Knick also supplies versions up to 20,000 A or with other measuring voltages on request. As proof of the product properties indicated, a calibration certificate per production unit is optionally available with every shunt resistor. In conjunction with the associated transducers, the shunt resistors ensure precise measurements with long-term stability for many years. Current peaks in the case of short circuits, for example, do not lead to an offset error or permanent inaccuracy. Further, the specifications of the high-isolation transducers from Knick fulfill stringent requirements. They include the galvanic isolation of working voltages up to 4.8 kV, high cutoff frequencies for delay-free signal transmission, low gain errors of 0.1 %, and high overload capacity as well. The shunt monitoring function is another special feature of the transducers: it permanently monitors the measuring circuit and signals any faults in the measuring chain.
