High-voltage transducers with SIL certification and standard signal output (4 … 20 mA)
Functionally safe measurement of high voltages in industrial applications
From hydrogen production to test benches to energy storage systems – applications with increased safety requirements need reliable voltage monitoring. At the same time, a high level of electrical insulation must be guaranteed in high-voltage environments. This is precisely where the P45000 from Knick comes into play – without compromising on functional safety and precision.

The flexibility and compactness of the P45000 series at a glance
What characterizes the P45000 series?
A future-oriented solution for the growing requirements of a modern energy infrastructure
The SIL 2-certified (redundant for SIL 3) P45000 high-voltage transducers combine an reinforced insulation up to 4,800 V AC/DC according to UL 347A with precise measurements of nominal voltages up to 3,000 V DC. This means, for example, that voltages on electrolyzer stacks and strings can be measured in a functionally safe way (see below).
The P45000s detect even the slightest voltage changes, and redundant measurements minimize sources of error. System operators in high-voltage environments benefit from the transducer, which supports safety-oriented shutdowns of machines and systems in accordance with IEC 61508. Reinforced insulation up to 4,800 V protects against high potential differences. Moreover, transducers from the P45000 series do not require any recalibration over their entire service life. This saves time and money and avoids disruptions to system operations.

New functions for proven technology
The P45000 series offers maximum flexibility: The analog signal output (4 … 20 mA) ensures broad compatibility with industrial control units for the safety-oriented shutdown of machines and systems in case of a malfunction. Thanks to the combination of the standard signal output and SIL certification, functionally safe (high) voltage measurement in accordance with standards can be achieved in environments with high potentials.
Meanwhile, the high insulation of the transducers and their numerous installation options in the smallest of spaces have proven their worth. For example, depending on requirements, the P45000 can be installed horizontally, vertically, or stacked for redundant measurement. It can even be installed side by side on a 35 mm DIN rail. Optional partitions between the transducers extend the clearances between adjacent connections and prevent errors when assembling the ring cable lugs. If space is especially limited, Knick offers the P45000 with permanently factory-encapsulated cables at the high-voltage input, so that the need for clearances and creepage distances is eliminated.
