Las resistencias shunt Maconic se basan en una dilatada experiencia en el diseño y la fabricación de estas resistencias. Estas se fabrican cuidadosamente a partir de materiales de alta calidad. Las barras de resistencia están hechas de manganina, una aleación especial de manganeso, cobre y níquel, con lo que se consigue un coeficiente térmico extremadamente bajo. El tamaño y la construcción mecánica se han elegido de forma que solo se produzca un calentamiento moderado hasta la corriente nominal.

Las resistencias shunt, así como los acondicionadores de señal shunt relacionados, alcanzan una excelente estabilidad a largo plazo, por lo que la precisión especificada está garantizada durante periodos de aplicación usuales de muchos años. Los picos de corriente no provocan ninguna desviación ni deriva. Los dispositivos de protección basados en la medición de corriente se benefician precisamente de la fiabilidad y estabilidad a largo plazo de la medición y consiguen de este modo un comportamiento especialmente seguro.
