Achema 2024 was the premiere of the sales cooperation between Knick and Hellma. The German companies Hellma and Knick are market leaders and global players with premium-quality products and proven technologies. Both companies want to provide the process technology market a coordinated solution with selected products to make production and manufacturing processes more efficient and safer.
The presented bundles consisting of a Falcata spectroscopy probe and Knick's Ceramat and SensoGate retractable fittings enable quantifiable increases in efficiency and greater process reliability, even in the most challenging processes. Customers therefore benefit from a comprehensive and integrated advice for their application which takes all relevant parameters into account. Projects and inquiries can thus be realized more quickly and in a more targeted manner.
UV/Vis/NIR probes and measurement cells are already an integral part of modern process analytical technology. Optical spectroscopy helps to keep an eye on production processes and quality control. The key to success is a precise yet robust spectroscopic process interface using optical immersion probes that are integrated directly into the running process and generate relevant process data from the measuring point in real time. As good as efficiency and quality increases can already be achieved at this point, the effect is noticeably improved with a retractable fitting.
Thanks to the unique interlock principle of the Knick Ceramat as well as the SensoGate retractable fitting, optical probes can be coupled and uncoupled without interrupting the ongoing process. The joint use of an optical probe and retractable fitting is particularly suitable for harsh applications or applications in adverse process conditions. The Ceramat and SensoGate have a unique, automatic cleaning function that allows the probe to be uncoupled from the running process and cleaned inside the retractable fitting. These cleanings can be carried out automatically and cyclically while the process continues to run.
When applying spectroscopic methods, it is necessary, regardless of the measuring system used, to perform reference measurements without a medium or with a reference medium and to repeat them at regular intervals. Until now, spectroscopy probes had to be laboriously removed and cleaned for this purpose. For products that tend to stick, there is also an increased need for cleaning to reduce the risk of incorrect measurements. The solution to these and other challenges is high-quality retractable fittings from Knick, which allow safe and convenient handling while the process is running.
This means, for example, that a reference measurement can be carried out at any time during the ongoing process. A probe can be cleaned in CIP mode (Cleaning in Place), i.e. it can be cleaned on site without having to be laboriously removed. The process does not have to be stopped during probe maintenance or replacement and can continue. This improves the output of the system and reduces waste through continuous process monitoring. A large variety of process connections allows adaptation to different conditions.
