Code of Conduct

Our company specifies a code of conduct for our employees and suppliers based on the UN Supplier Code of Conduct (Rev. 60, Dec. 2017) as a binding prerequisite for upholding human rights, social justice and human dignity, the equality of the sexes, labor and environmental standards, and ethical principles in business relationships.

1    Labor

1.1    Forced or compulsory labor
Knick prohibits all forms of forced or compulsory labor.

1.2    Child Labor
Our company does not employ children younger than 15 and demands that its suppliers only employ children who provide services according to the law of the country in which they work.

1.3    Discrimination
We ensure equal opportunity and equal treatment with regard to employment. We do not tolerate discrimination based on race, skin color, gender, religion, political opinions, national or social origin or any other reasons and demand that our suppliers adhere to this policy.

1.4    Diversity
In our company we assign responsibility when it is relevant, without taking gender, skin color or religious affiliation into consideration.

1.5    Remuneration, Working Hours and Working Conditions
Knick will pay and document salaries and wages at regular intervals equal to one month maximum, in full and directly to the relevant employee.
The working hour regulations and working conditions at our company satisfy the legal stipulations, with which we guarantee compliance.

1.6    Principles of Occupational Safety
All legal requirements for occupational safety must be complied with in full. Any hazards that are present or can occur while work is being carried out will be identified and reduced to the extent possible.

2    Human Rights

Knick supports and respects the protection of internationally declared human rights and ensures that it will not be part of any violations of human rights. Our company also demands that suppliers follow this policy.

2.1    Employee Protection
Knick treats all employees with dignity and respect and prohibits verbal, psychological or sexual harassment or abuse.

3    Principles of Environmental Protection

The amount of available resources is limited. For this reason, we must use energy, water and raw materials economically. We take this goal into consideration when we develop products. The long service life and energy efficiency of our products and production process reflect this policy.

  • Our environmental management system and our minimum requirement are based on the principle of compliance with the applicable laws and regulations.
  • We ensure that our production places as small a burden on the environment as possible and avoid waste, wastewater and emissions to the greatest extent possible.
  • We expect our suppliers to follow an environmental policy that conserves resources and preserves the environment.

4    Principles of Ethics in Business Relationships

We hereby commit to fairness in competition. Our suppliers, customers and competitors are expected to share our view on ethics and refrain from all corruption and the direct or indirect financing of armed parties to conflicts.

4.1    Responsible Choice of Raw Materials
Knick tracks the origin of raw materials to the extent permitted by the documented information. Our Purchasing Department prohibits the use of tantalum, tin, tungsten and gold (3TG) originating in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and its neighboring countries unless the minerals in question were extracted from certified mine operators. With this policy, we intend to prevent money from being used for the armed conflict in the region.
